As much as we would like to think that being rich, loved and admired by everyone in the town could be the best thing ever, there are a lot of downfalls in this also. King Hamlet was favored by many. He was a very good man, until his brother decided to kill him to gain the power that he held. Who wouldn’t want the power that he had and who wouldn’t be jealous of a sibling that was loved by everyone more than you? Hamlet, the son of King Hamlet, begins to put the pieces together and plans revenge against his uncle Claudius. Most of the time, we only see the good parts of being king and queen. Let’s focus on some of the parts that could convince you that this isn’t the best position to be in.
The disadvantages definitely make me proud to be a normal citizen and not to have any power to overthrow different decisions. We can compare the new king Claudius -who was killed by young Hamlet in a fight for revenge for killing his father- to the current president. Everyday they had a high number of threats for their lives. The pressure they had would be unbearable for most people to even start to handle. Also the enemies that you would have just for being in that position would be people that you don’t even know, and how fair is that to you?
Being king or queen would work to your advantage in a number of ways. You would have power over everyone below you, which is everyone. The security you get would make it pretty hard for someone to kill you in the first place, and the loyalty and admiration you get from everyone would definitely be a confidence booster in many ways. But at the same time, if everyone begins to hate you, security would do nothing for you. An example of this is when Fortinbras gets an army together and they were trying to over through the king, but he was already dead from the battle with Hamlet earlier. He winds up being king in the end and Hamlet dies. He made his funeral very respectful and I think that made a lot of people in the kingdom respect him more. It shows that he is noble and cares about others. Like I said in the beginning, there are a lot of pros and cons to being royalty.

I definitely agree there is a lot of things we don't know about being king or queen(famous) there are the positives that we know about but what about the downfalls? you nailed it on the head. I have been asked if I could be rich would I? I say no because I don't want the money to overrun my decisions. Like you Rachel are famous in Summit for being nice and attractive. Some of the people think you are perfect and yet they don't know that you have imperfections like the rest of us. your a good person and I think that they should try to get to know who you really are. You are more than just looks and manners your a normal person who contributes to society just like everyone else.
