My Future
I am a little bit worried because I’m going to be graduating my program in a bit and then high school will be gone this year. It seems like the life that I’ve known for the past two years is coming to an end. Which means no more of the structured environment and more of me doing what I want to do, which is a scary thing for me. I’m so use to being told what to do, and I don’t know what I’m going to do first.
Also I have some friends that I am having some mixed feelings about, and I don’t really know what to do or what to say around the. I mean I still want to be friends with several kids I have met here at summit like Alex, Rachel, Rory, Ryan, etc… if I don’t keep in contact with them, then I shall miss them all. But if I do keep contact with them, then hopefully it will be some good friendships. Either way I wish nothing less than the best for them.

My year in 2008 wasn’t my best year. To me it was okay. There will always be good and bad things that happen. So, I am going to tell you what happened in that last year.
I had turned 17 years old and got engaged with someone who I thought made me happy. But I guess I was love blind or something because everyone kept on telling me that it was bad. I was going even more down hill then I had thought. I didn’t like myself at all, and I didn’t really know what to do about it.
When I lived in California I had started experimenting with some things that I knew I would do more of. In May of last year I was out with some friends and we had a lot to drink. I took them over to a lake by my dad’s house on the 4-wheeler. My friend had alcohol poisoning and his mom came and found us and she had called the ambulance. We both got charged with drinking under age and I got a DUI. Wasn’t my best choice but it was a choice. I got a job at Smiths Food and Drug about 3 days after that happened because I knew when I went to court for my review I was going to get a big fine. I decided to go to a friends’ house for the week before my court date and do whatever I wanted because I thought I was going to go to DT again or something. So my step mom called my probation officer and said I ran away. Well, I went to court and they didn’t want to put me in DT again so they called my therapist and people from some other places.
My judge had ordered me into foster care in June when I went to my court review from other charges. I had gone to Vantage point for about 2 weeks until they found a home for me that was structured enough but not too awful bad. I went into foster care, and I have been clean since. I am not allowed to talk to that certain person. I have anew life with new people. I have a new boy friend and friends that have a good influence on me. I am not influenced easily but I tend to not care about a lot of things. I am starting to care a lot more and act differently. For the first time since about 4th grade I am getting a 3.8 GPA.
I am proud of myself, and starting to like my self a lot better. Maybe being taken away into care wasn’t such a bad thing. I think 2009 will be even better.

Music is a big thing in my life, I am almost always listening to music, it helps me sort of express myself in a way. I believe that If I did not have music in my life it would be a little hard to not go crazy when I am bored because that is when music is important. I can just lay down and listen to music and I will not be bored anymore. Music helps me while I am cleaning my room or working our It puts me in the mood to keep going and to be happy while I am doing it. I also believe that music helps people socialize and have fun, I don’t know what is in music that makes people love it so much but there is something in there that makes people go crazy at concerts, in bedrooms and sometimes in showers.

I have had some experience with Shakespeare before from my previous English classes, so I know some about the playwright. First, I know that he lived in Stratford-upon-Avon, England in the late 1500’s. I remember that his father was a glover and then an alderman for his village. I recall that there are no portraits of him made during his life, and that his plays weren’t collected until several years after his death in 1616.
My past experiences with Shakespeare’s works include watching the 1960’s movie version of “Romeo and Juliet” while reading bits of the play and acting out the occasional scene. In that English class I also read and translated some of his sonnets into contemporary English. In tenth grade I read and acted out “Macbeth” along with studying Elizabethan England and the life of William Shakespeare.
I think that his plays are a bit weird and somewhat interesting. I don’t like his plays because there are works that I don’t understand and the sentence structure is foreign to what I now.

Last year was crazy. So many different things have happened. Today is my birthday! J I remember my sweet 16, it wasn’t the best I’ve had. It was my first birthday away from any of my real family, so it kind of made me really sad. But this year will definitely be better.
I’ve been dealing a lot with a court case concerning some incidents with my step-dad. It’s been really hard on me. I know I have people I can turn to if I need to talk or cry though. That’s really reassuring. While this case is being processed, there’s one major thing I have learned. Sometimes you have to do things that are really painful to yourself to help others. Right now is a hard time for me to be dealing with pressing charges. This court case has been going on for two years today, and I just want to give up and say, “Just let him go.” But honestly, I would rather go through the pain instead of having some other little girl or boy go through the exact same thing when I could’ve done something to prevent them from feeling the same thing I am. You have to fight for what you think is right.
My sister Amy (20) got pregnant last year. She is due in February with a boy. I’m going to be the best Aunt ever! Especially after living with my aunt and uncle.
I got to see my little brothers Matthew and Jeffrey after two and a half years of not seeing them. I was the happiest I’ve been in a really long time. I love my brothers; they are my life. When I was living with my dad, they were the only reason I stayed and never ran away. I was the one that had to take care of them. Just call me Mommy Rachel. It’s really good to be able to be JUST their sister though.
I went through a really tough heartbreak with an ex boyfriend. He ended up getting into drugs. Drugs really make me angry. If drugs were a person, I would hire a hit man. It seems like everyone I start to love that I end up losing; drugs are usually what end our relationship. I’ve learned a lot about love though. I need to stay strong, and stay close to my true friends and the people that truly do love me, and would never hurt me.
I hope everyone has an awesome 2009!! Make it the best yet!

I had a great Christmas with my family. I got everything that I wanted and that I asked for. I got my dad and my grandpa a redneck shirt and they laughed at it. We all thought that it was funny. One of the presents that I got was broken when I got it and that was my guitar. It was like that when my dad got it. He didn’t know that it was broken he thought it was just the sound of the guitar. My grandparents took that guitar back and got me a brand new one and a better one.
I got to see my grandparents on Tuesday January 9, 2009 for a family therapy session. My grandparents brought me some 200 pages full of Chris Ledoux songs. I can already play a few of them. I’m playing songs that my dad likes, songs that my grandparents like and songs that I like. I love playing the guitar and I will play that until I’m dead. I’m going to try out for the talent show. A friend and me are playing Our Song by Taylor Swift. I’m going to be playing the guitar and she’s going to be singing the song. I tell you, I’m going to be kind of afraid to play in front of a bunch of people. This will help me to become a professional guitar player and I’m going to practice singing.
