Starting a new school
Have you ever had mixed emotions about something? Well when we were entering into the school year, I was told that I could do home schooling. I was so excited that I wouldn’t have to go to a high school. I went for almost three weeks just doing simple home school. I had a lot of fun because since I am really good at school, it didn’t take me long to get done with my assignments. Then I could basically do whatever I wanted to do.
The day was supposed to be simple when I got up at seven to help get my brothers and sisters off to school, like usual. After they were all gone, my mom told me to get cleaned up. It was strange, but I didn’t ask why. When we were in the car, I finally asked where we were going. She said she was going to get me registered, so naturally, I asked what I was being registered for. I waited for a while for an answer, and then we pulled into the parking lot of a building. She said something I had dreaded she would say.

Doesn’t it always seem to go that we don’t know who and what we have until it’s gone?
I am writing about Adam Wilkinson. He has done so much and this is all I have to give. The group home lost one of the best staff they had and ever will. I am on my way home this Monday. One of my first plans was to give him a hug. I could not have made it through this program without Adam. I have learned to take a deep breath and to just go with the flow of life from him.
I don’t know what to say so I’ll say that P. Diddy and his song “I’ll be missin you” explains it best. We all love and miss you Adam. In our hearts is where we keep you friend.

How do you deal with death?
Yesterday one of my good friends, mentor, and big brother past away in his sleep. When all of us got the news that he has been found dead we already new something was wrong. We where hoping that we where in trouble and that everything was alright with him. I heard the news but didn’t really hear it tell like ten minutes later, I started to cry and recall all the things that have happened with us, all the help he has been to me would be a waste if I didn’t improve my life or work on the things I need to. His name is Adam Wilkinson, he has worked at the group home for two years, and the last thing he said to me was. “I don’t work here for the pay because it’s nothing compared to the pay you give me”.
I have seen about fifteen people deal with this and most of them have been similar in the way then act. I cried and talked about all the amazing times we had together, and then I went to sleep and I hope that’s all the crying I well do for now. Because I think crying is a waste of time, but not really I say that because I don’t like crying. Some people it really hasn’t had much affect on, from what I have seen. One of us is taking a vow of silence and I could hear Adam saying “If you think it will help, go a head”. Also some are dressed in black for appreciation of the “White Rasta Man”.

“Wow!” I wake up in a sudden jolt. “It’s Christmas!” Presents, family, presents… DAD!!! Christmas means I get to see my dad! I jump off my top bunk scattered with blankets, waking everyone else up. “What time is it??” Everyone yells. I look sharply to the clock. “Five o’ clock…” They are going to make me go back to sleep if I tell them five, that can’t happen, no way.

Learning a new skill
“Whoosh” was the sound as the wind blew towards us. We were slowly going down the mountain until one of us fell. For the four whole weeks we were up there it got harder and harder. They pushed us as far as we could go. The pain was like a deer getting hit by a truck. I am still sore from all of the work that I put into the four weeks. The instructor was getting angry. We all were frustrated, for it was difficult. At the end it was easier, but we still were in pain. My last fall was the worst.

Everyone has there happy place. J Mine is music. Music is a powerful tool. It can be used to take us places where this world does not have. Also, the lyrics in music are usually powerful and are full of reason and passion. For everyone the meaning is different. In different genres of music there are a lot of cultures. Rap can be from the “ghetto” and Indie music can be from the “rich”. Either way they both have the same things in common. They both have meaning and passion. Someone put a lot of thinking into what they were coming up with. The environment can affect the lyrics that people use. My personal favorite genre of music is Rock! I like it because it’s not to heavy but it’s not to soft. It’s (to me) energy packed. It takes me to a good place!

Have you ever wondered where your life was headed? I always did but never did anything about it. I was blind to the obvious and the consequence I would’ve never expected. I thought I had everything under control. I thought that I was invincible and things would workout somehow without me having to put any effort into it. From where I was standing, I was on top of the world. Life was great, I did whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. Nobody could touch me and I loved life as I knew it. My world would be flipped upside down but I knew I could handle it because I had gone through much worse before. I’m in the middle of a roller coaster. Things are constantly changing and so different than I would’ve ever thought they would have been.

Narrative Rough Draft
Have you ever had a day in your life when you had a lot of fun? I had one of those days and that was when I went on my family vacation to Disneyland with my grandparents, sister and cousin. I went through the whole park. It was cool looking at all of the new things that they had there.
What I thought was so cool was my grandpa let me and my cousin go all by ourselves around the park and go on any ride that we wanted to. Me and my cousin did a lot of cool things there. We saw all of the characters from Disney and saw the new rides there.
Me and my cousin went on a lot of rides. We went on the new pirates of the Caribbean boat ride. It was cool looking at all of the treasure and the pirates that they had there. When we were at Disneyland we saw the characters from pirates of the Caribbean. It was the opening day for the new movie at worlds end. They had a red carpet and everything. They walked right down Main Street.
One of the coolest things that I did was the star wars Jedi academy. They had two people dressed up like Jedi’s and they taught everyone they picked to do the Jedi training. They taught us how to fight and which way to do in and it was really fun. Me and my sister did it. I fought Darth Vader and my sister fought Darth Maul.
I had a really fun trip when I went to Disneyland. It was one of the best that I went on. When I was there it was like all of the troubles went away because I was having so much fun.

Narrative Introduction
It’s amazing what details come up in family therapy sessions. How the facts that have long remained in a chemical fog come to light and paint a clearer picture. As disquieting as these times are they allow me to recount this story in more depth than I ever could on my own.
I remember it was an overcast day in late February. It must have been something past three because the school day was over and I was on the other side of town. The matriarchs of my family, Elizabeth and Dorothy, took me to Iceberg to get some food and a good shake, but when the order came, they left the cheesecake out of my beloved frozen raspberry-cheesecake dessert. Was this the last straw? I can’t remember. However, I do remember we made our way through the residential parts of Orem, seeing the newer homes and the ones as old as ours. I remember we came home in time for my second favorite show.
How long ago did I make the decision? I can’t recall. I toyed with the idea, the philosophical and metaphysical ramifications, and the emotional consequences. Why did I choose that weekday in February? This also eludes me, but the fact remains, that is when I made my choice.
King of the Hill came on at the stroke of five, as constant as the sunrise. I was on Wikipedia looking up a murderer as I watched, whose name escapes me, but he was brought up in one of the two sequential episodes as the man that Ladybird’s mother had tracked down. Even thought my attention was split between the internet and the television I made my move, I felt it was time. I told my mother that I loved her and I shuttled her upstairs. I was alone with my television and computer, the two facets of my life. I moved from the stairwell to my mother’s bedroom. Thus it began.

Narrative Introduction
“Zach?” “Wake up you need to get ready, we will be in the car”. “Ugh” I thought to myself as I dragged myself up out of my warm bed. This is the only day I don’t want to see her. “I have to” I kept telling myself, if I don’t I’ll never get over it. By this time I was heading down the hall which seemed so long with its tiled floor and white walls, seems like I was walking to a death sentence, I sure felt like it. Today would be the first day I would see her family in almost a month. By now my nerves were so rattled that my palms were sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. I walk outside eating a piece of toast that was on the counter, probably old but I didn’t care. I didn’t want to care or feel anything today. I get in my car its cold just like everything else today. I knew this but sat right against the cold leather seats and just sat there. My eyes were welling up with tears. “Not now” I said to myself “Not yet”. I started my car it finally turned over after a few tries. “Piece of crap Toyota” I said out loud. I started driving out of the driveway, that’s when it happened. That’s when I saw it.

Narrative Introduction
Have you ever gone to bed worried that you will not wake up the next morning? I have felt worried for the past 14-15 years. It’s a scary feeling. When I was 1-2 years old I had two baby brothers die. The first one died in his sleep I happen to have found him. It was morning time, and I was so excited for the day to start it was around 8-9’o’clock a.m. I remember going in Joshua’s room I went to go and wake him up that is when I found him. All I really remember was his skin was very pale, I went to wake up my parents and tell them to check on Joshua. When they did check on him and my parents started to cry and yell. My dad called 911 and then in like an hour I saw an ambulance outside and the paramedics came in and took my brother out. For ten years I blamed myself never really understanding what happened. I always thought “if I was never sick around him he would still be living.” Now I realize I could not have done anything to stop his death from happening.

There once was a mouse,
Who lived in a house.
He did not speak,
Nor did he speak.
But he did wear a blouse.
There once was a boy
He loved his favorite toy
He found it broken
After he awoken
And just found out it was his brother troy.
There once was a bum
He played the drum
He found it was bad
He got very mad
And he told himself he’s dumb
I wish to have a phone
Maybe I can get a lone.
Should I get cricket?
Or kick back and kick it.
But all I do is mone.

I miss your gorgeous green and blue eyes
Your beautiful bright radiant smile
Missing your soft touch and gentle voice
It’s true what they say love is bliss
Without you I feel so cold and lonely
I need your warm gentle touch
I wish I could hold you in my arms
Without you I feel so vain
Torn away from you and torn a sunder
I’m in a blunder I feel so lost
Closing my eyes trying not to give up
I’m caught in the dark and you’re my light
They can only separate us for so long
Soon I’ll kiss your soft cheek
Soon I’ll hold you in my arms
‘Cause your what makes my heart beat

I think my views on poetry have changed a lot. Now I have noticed a lot more stuff has poetry. As I listen to the radio I listen for the poetry in all the songs. I think that if people had the same view I had on poetry in the beginning and then they were introduced to poetry the same way that I was, then they would really like poetry. The reason why I say that is because before I hated poetry. If anyone said poetry, I would run the other way. I absolutely hated poetry. But now as I read and memorize poetry I come to appreciate it more and more. So I bet if everyone started reading and memorizing poetry then they will fall in love with poetry. I know I have and now poetry has become a big part of my life. Now I memorize poetry just for fun. So please make poetry a part of your life. I know it can help you memorize things easier than ever before

My views on poetry have changed. After reading all of the different styles of poetry, I’ve learned a lot! Sequence, rhyming scheme, and all that jazz. When I write poetry, I always seem to struggle with finding words that rhyme. I start to think that only those words would do and get that meaning across.
Poetry is the expression of feelings in a sequence or pattern.
We should read poetry because it is a good way of learning to understand and see people’s different views and perspectives on a lot of really neat things. Love, life, poverty, etc.
We should write it because it’s an amazing way to express you. When feelings build up inside of you, it isn’t healthy. There needs to be some way to tell people what you’re thinking, especially if you aren’t good at talking to others. I love writing when I’m in a sad or angry mood, even though I’m not scared of talking in front of people, some certain subjects are touchy. I don’t really like crying and trying to talk at the same time.

And then they ran away with haste.

Happiness to all

The bird in my window sill
Sings me a song
He paints me a picture
Of his life story
He cries of the hardships
And laughs at the sun
Over everything, his happiness has won.

Got hit by a truck
Today messed up her whole world
There once was a queen

She was the only one with gang green.

There once was a man,
Who lived in a can,
It wasn’t vey big,
Yet he owned a pig,
Until he cooked it in a pan.
I guess I knew this mouse,
Who lived in my house,
I put out some cheese,
To give him a squeeze,
But I didn’t know he had a spouse.
I was sentenced to court,
When I arrived at port,
When he slammed the hammer,
I was sent back to the slammer,
And never had to go back to court.
Dark turns into light
Bad doesn’t turn into good
Well doesn’t that suck.
The government really sucks,
They watch your every move,
They know all that you do.

I think this section has given me a greater appreciation for poetry. I believe that because of this class I am now able to understand why an author chose the words they did, or the subject they wrote on. This class has given me new insights on how to read into what is on the page.
We should write poetry because it is a release. Poetry transcends prose because when we create poems we are not held back by grammar and punctuation. Poetry is like a higher form of English where we can create, or manipulate words as they are to mean something more.
Reading poetry doesn’t have to be drudgery. One of my favorite ways to enjoy poetry is by listening to music. Well written lyrics can be beautiful, tragic, or inspirational. I like listening to music with deeper lyrics, it give me something to think about.
Poetry is making language into art, without it language would be dead.

My views on poetry have changed a lot. I used to think poetry was boring and pointless. Now that I have actually looked at it and paid attention to it I have realized that it’s a great thing and that everyone should read or write poetry. I believe that we should write poetry because it is a way of telling people who we are and what we are all about. It helps us express our feelings and we can learn a lot about each other through poetry. When I write poems I express emotion and it helps me a lot. It can help me have a better day; it feels as if a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. There are also those poems that make us sad or unhappy, but if we are writing these poems it can still help us because again it is expressing our emotions and it really does help a lot. People say they don’t like poetry, but I think if they were to really look at it and pay attention to it they would love it like I do.

I don’t find it interesting or appealing to learn about. I’ve learned a lot about poetry and since day one I didn’t like it.
Poetry has a lot of different meanings to it depending on what meaning you’re asking for. Poetry is a combination of words that rhyme and make sense bunched into a story in order.
Poetry stimulates our minds and brings us inner peace. It helps us read literature better and enlarge our vocabulary.
When you write poetry it helps your writing improve a lot more. It gives you a faster way to write. Helps you organize your words. Learn how to spell uncommon words.

Last Night
Last night, three of my siblings and I wanted to go to a movie, so we walked to the movie theatre. We didn’t even know what movies were playing, but we still went. They decided to go with me to see Twilight for my second time. My little brother had never seen it but my other two siblings had. When we got in there, my little brother got a bloody nose and decided to put his tissues in my drink. I was pretty mad but then the movie came on and I knew nothing else bad would happen. I was wrong. We sat right behind these three girls who I knew were all older than me but they were giggling like little three year olds! I kept asking myself what was so funny. They laughed through the whole movie.
I figured I could live with the laughing, but then every time I would gasp or laugh my little brother who had already seen it would ask why I did it or what was so funny. Then, there was the little brother who hadn’t seen it. He is Russian, and he doesn’t really understand the meaning of movies very often. He was always asking me what was going on. It was very fun but extremely irritating at the same time. Then we had to walk home. When we got home, we found out that my mom had sent out two other kids to look for us! Luckily though, one of them had a phone and they came home after walking back.

Well, my week has been such a good one. It was probably one of my favorite. I had a team meeting on Monday and everyone showed up. It was the first time since last July. I never really like team meeting because they always bring up things that you just do not want to be brought up. I just do not like people talking about me… good or bad.
I went on a home visit on Tuesday so that I could go to the DMV in Heber because it is faster up there. I cleaned out all of my things at my dad’s house. On Tuesday, I called my dad to see if he was picking me up from school and the first thing that they told me was “He’s out Kelsee, He’s Out!” I found out my brother, Jack, was released that day. He was locked up for about 6 years and they finally let him free. That completely made my day so much better. Then I went up to Heber to see some of my family and a couple friends.
On Wednesday I had an appointment at the DMV to do the driving test and to see if I was allowed to get my license back. I took the test and only missed a couple so now I have my license back for the 2nd time. When I got back to Orem, I was with my boyfriend until he had to go to work. About 4:30 pm he called me from the hospital saying he got in a car accident. Ugh. That completely messed up my day. I thought he was kidding at first but then he wasn’t. He was fine but his car was totaled. Just his neck hurt and his arm really bad. But he’s fine… hopefully it will stay like that. So this was my week.

So last night I was hanging out with Angelo and Ashley. We were walking to my house and we saw this couple fighting in their car. The woman got out and was screaming at the husband. They were dropping the F bomb and insulting him and he was insulting her it was really weird. We didn’t know what to do so we kept walking. As we got closer to my house Ashley noticed that they lived in a house we had just passed. They were still yelling at each other. The husband was telling her to get into the house and then we noticed that he was talking to someone else too. He had a teen in the car. By this time we were freaking out. I called the cops and told them what we had seen and that it could be getting violent inside the home. The next thing I knew there were two sheriff trucks pulling up. We left and let them handle the situation. All I could think about was, what if I wouldn’t have done anything and the next day I see the headline EAGLE MOUNTAIN SLAYING. I would be devastated. I’m glad I did something.

Bodies upon bodies
Sand upon sand
Miles upon miles
Blood upon tiles
Kingdom after empire
Movement after war
People searching high and low
For something that is more
Flags accosting the bluest sky
Red running into green and grey
Sabers rattling and glinting in the light
They can make the masses sway
Blood upon tiles
Bodies for miles
Bombs and ships go
After the sun sets
New lines on the map
The erasures are clear
More mountains and fields
Their sovereign is here
Bullets upon helmets
Blood upon tiles
Warriors burn files
As land changes hands

When We First Met
I remember when we first met
The first kiss we shared,
We flaunted ourselves
And put our love in the air.
You made everything ok
Helped me realize,
You held me close
You looked in my eyes.
You told me others didn’t matter
And told me I was safe with you,
Now that we are in love
I never want to lose you.

When Matthew played Led Zeppelin, I really liked the song because it had a true meaning. If you actually listen to the words, you will notice that what the lead singer is saying is true because in the song he says that words have two meanings you just have to listen for it. Also there are really good poetry starters you just have to listen for them in the song. For instance “In a tree by the brook” Or “there’s a song bird who sings” that is the start to really good poetry. But if you listen to the whole song there is so much good poetry that it is unbelievable. All I know is that I think the song is amazing for as old as it is. I just wish I could hear all their songs so that I could hear all the poetry that is tied into the song. Also if you listen to the song and listen for the poetry you will hear that the poetry has a good and powerful meaning, you just have to listen for it.

The lonely guitar
The guitar is very lonely,
It hasn’t been played for years,
All it can do is make a noise,
But the guitar was bought from sears.
The kid cant play the guitar, either can his parents,
So all the guitar does is play in tears.
When the guitar plays it plays a sad song,
So all it does is play when it’s sad.
The guitar is very lonely, the guitar is very sad,
The lonely guitar turned out to be mad!!!

The four pillars
The four pillars are tradition, discipline, honor and excellence. I think tradition means just living in the footsteps of the history of something, something you at a certain time every year or month, etc. do. You’re just doing the same as the years before. Discipline in my mind just knows and showing you can have self-control, self-restraint, order, direction and learning from it and your mistakes. Honor is, I guess, just living with pride and respect for certain people or things. When you honor someone or something you’re glad to represent and know them. Now the last thing is excellence. I really don’t know what that means. Excellent means like very great or like amazing so I assume excellence is the act of being very great or amazing, doing something in excellence or being something excellent. Those are my interpretations of the four pillars.

Summit
Summit is cool, summit is great,
It might be hard to get a date.
We all help others,
Because we are like brothers.
Summit may be small, but it’s full of joy,
Summit is great for every girl and boy.
You hear Doug planning activities,
Dan planning fun
Student council planning summit nights,
And you hear that some kids want to run.
You hear teachers talking about assignments,
Councilors talk about credits,
But the person who works the most is Joe
At the front desk.
Joe has to call people and receive calls
I don’t think she ever goes to malls.
Summit is trustworthy,
Summit can help,
And what summit doesn’t do is wine and whelp.

Stone
I think of stone.
A stone that has seen thousands of thunderstorms, and has seen king after new king.
I see rocks that have been a silent witness to culture following culture,
Stones that quietly gaze down on city, farm, and town.
I see stone that has been used for fortresses to keep out,
Hearths to invite in,
Walls to hold back,
And roads to push away.
Picks and dynamite.
Something as temporal and fleshy as man
Molding the immortal and timeless, this outcrop.
What I see is a stone, a rock, a boulder, a monolith
That will be there long after its descriptions decay
And those who look on it in wonder die.
Our buildings made of you will change hands,
Change purpose, crumble under the weather and turn to dust.
Castles cannot keep you out,
Cathedrals cannot keep you in.
When I am gone all that will be left is stone.

The Lonely Straightener
As I sit in the drawer all lonely and cold,
I say to myself, as my cord chokes me.
“When will she come unwind my cord,
And plug me in to get warm?”
I don’t like this cold dark drawer,
I don’t like it at all,
So until she comes again to talk me out
Forever will I mourn.
Summit
The doors wait, anticipating, until they’re opened.
They sit sadly, solemnly in silence.
The buses arrive and release the vicious tigers waiting to attack.
Like a tornado touching down on a glass building.
It is torn, shattered and destroyed.
I sit and think about the true
Meaning of summit
To offer students another chance,
To better their lives
But the meaning I see is deeper.
People fight, other comfort those fighting,
People hate, others love those hating,
In the end, everyone has ONE to rely on for love and support.
We need to strive to be that one.
To be the one not hating.
The end of the day come, the doors close.
Locked. Waiting. Anticipating for tomorrow

Angry Guitar
The angry guitar,
Snapped its string,
So it didn’t have to listen.
So I replaced the thing,
Oh it made such a scene,
Going down with a fight,
You would believe I couldn’t win,
But it ended not so angrily,
And that was it.
My Pic
The pics that I use are unique all around.
They aren’t at work if you hear no sound.
I hold them tight,
To not give them flight.
They can come thick or thin,
It just depends on the mood I’m in.
Some appear to be clear,
Others enjoy to stare.
But whatever my need,
I’ll find one for me indeed.

The surprised pen
By: Nick
Everything he does is a surprise to him,
The trail he leaves
Is the only thing he see’s
The next thing ahead
He does not dread.
He just goes as it comes
Sometimes its fun
Her runs and runs
Until his trail
Is permanently done.
The Cliff.
The grass is clinging on the rocks
The shadows darken it up
There is shelter for a small animal
Then the tide comes up
The animal runs
There is a wall
It is kind of small
Next to it some might feel tall
There’s that animal
It is doing the crab crawl

Never Meant to be Read
I know what you’re thinking
From the glisten in your eyes
Until you’re biting your bottom lip
I wish this moment would never die
Chorus
Let’s get out of this place
And I will take you anywhere
Why can’t it just be you and me?
Your taunting kisses just aren’t fair
Do you remember our first kiss?
As the crescent moon lit the sky
We held each other so close that night
I’ve got to tell you
That I’ve never felt so alive
Repeat Chorus
May this never be the end
I hope our love will last forever
I hope I always make you laugh
Your very touch makes my heart race
Words can’t describe what you mean to me
With every moment that we embrace

What do you to break somebody’s pride?
Do you think your pride would be broken if you have to wear a orange shirt for a week? The shirt is ripped stained, has bleach spots on it but the worst is that the shirt smells like play dough. I think my pride is broken in some ways but the way I think it “needs” I am to prideful to let it go and smash it. I have to much pride to get help or accept I need it from a lot of people. I think of Pride Rock from the “Lion king”. That is my favorite movie.

Fake
I wish people would stop being two-faced,
Because when they are I want more space.
I want to leave my pain behind,
I wish everyone could be more kind.
It hurts me to see everyone lying through their teeth,
It makes me wonder if they’re as fake as my grandpa’s teeth.
I start to wonder who is really real,
When they lie I go for a spill.
I wish I could truly see what everyone’s like,
I want to go and ride away on a bike.
I get hurt everyday,
By their flaky ways.
I want to shed tears of sadness and hurt,
There is no honesty they wear a face and a skirt.
I see just an image before and again,
I wish I had someone who is with me until the end.

Stone Mask
Hey, Hey I’m talking to you
Do you think that your closest friend next to you
Is there ever smiling person,
Without a care in the world?
Do you think you can read them like an open book?
Are their feelings transparent as glass?
Perhaps you don’t notice their eyes trailing towards everybody.
Perhaps, you do not know them.
For I have a little story.
Of a girl with a mask of stone.
At first sight, her powerful burning bright smile of the sun
Is blind that it hurts
It’s just a lie. When all eyes are turned away,
Her smile turns into a cruel unwelcome scowl.
For she sees everything.
With those sharp unfading eyes,
She sees the bad& good & judges.
That is her true form
But her mask of stone is beautifully carved of a smiling girl.
Fake, and cold,
Nobody notices for al they see is a bright person.
Nobody saving her from the overwhelming darkness.
She only cries when her mask cracks from
The grasp of pain and irritation.
Let nothing come. Nothing.
For all people to her are deaf and blind to see her.
Only for her word she speaks the truth…
Eventually her words of her cries and pain pause,
Only to follow silence& a bright fake smile.
Nobody comes to realization,
She has given up.
In life, she has given it gone.
And mistakes come to her slowly and all to fast.
Cries of her commiting the sin of sloth
Her laughter is a lie.
In the soft creep of the night.
Dull pale eyes stare out at the beautiful moon
Her pale pink lips slowly whisper “goodbye, mask”
Holding the steel tears start to roll.
Blood does not fall, but only a stone mask to the ground.

Summit
Highest of all the peaks,
Doug is the big man on campus.
Everyone listens when he speaks,
All the staff strives to teach us.
It is a school for kids like me,
Who want some sort of change.
Teachers are here to help out me,
Even though they’re kind of strange.
Strange is just a word not good or bad,
Unless it’s the good way of saying bad.
Teachers are good at showing change,
Although they like to show their strange.
Strange is different,
Change is as well.
Strange is funny and good at that,
Change is cunning and not too bad.
They’re here to help us,
To be our friends.
They’re here to help us until the end.

Grasp Life
Life seems so funny sometimes
All the mixed feelings,
Don’t know what to do with them
And you can’t find the meanings.
Everyone has a purpose
Though it may be hard to find,
You will get through it
With your goals on your mind.
Live, laugh, love, and be happy
That’s what it’s about,
If you don’t take your time
You will miss out.

Death
So there were two quotes. The first one he was saying, pretty much just, death is going to happen so just leave it be. Then the second guy was sadder, he said no matter how great in life you are you’re going to die so it doesn’t matter. So out of the two what one do I think is right? I would have to say that it all just depends on how you look at life and how you view it. I think faith or absents of faith, and what you believe in has a big part in it too. I don’t think the second one is true. I think when you die if you do something that makes you different or just remember able then you will be remembered and that’s important. I’m sure everyone is remembered by someone when they die. I really don’t think we just turn into dirt and there you go. I think something happens but I have NO idea what. That would be amazing to know what happens to us when we die. That’s a whole different conversation though dude.

Love
Love is a flame that speaks to us,
Shows us instead of tells us.
We keep it in our hearts,
Especially at hard times.
Love can be sour but can also be sweet.
It can be tame and gentle
Or it can hit us like a cinder block.
Amazing and wonderful,
Yet excruciatingly painful.
Love is a flame that speaks to us
And it’s calling your name.
Hair
As one hair jumps this way
The other crawls the opposite.
They make it look so easy
The way they move like that,
Sometimes I just can’t help it
I have to grab a hat.
They want t o split apart
So much that I can’t stop them,
They push and pull and twist afar
Some say my hair is a gem
But don’t they know anything at all?

Failing
Most of the time I fail in my classes. I’m not a stupid kid. I’m just lazy, and I know it. I wonder why I am always so lazy, but maybe I need to start growing up and realizing that if I don’t do my work I won’t graduate! I’m not doing the best, but I am working on it now. I messed up. My grades probably won’t get me where I wanted to go in life. I don’t want to go to school again next year. I don’t want to upset my mom. I just need to slap myself. I’m glad that the teachers here at summit will let me catch up though. I appreciate it a lot. I take it for granted, but I really am grateful. Summit has become a good school to go to for a reason, it’s good to catch up with. I also always think that I’m going to get somewhere but I cant if I don’t do anything. I’m going to start doing better by doing my work when I am supposed to. I need to become the person I want to be.

What’s your face?
I have come to learn to limit the people I trust because I can’t always be right with what that person is feeling or thinking they feel. I find myself in a really hard place and with the person I can’t have anything to do with. No way in heaven can I fix any of the problems and even if I do the soonest would be July. I can promise to still want to at least talk about what happened and that’s all I have going for me.
But as of now I’m positive I will try to mend the wrong and make whatever I get the chance to because I have such strong feelings. I wish I could have the chance to fix it now but that’s too much of a “pig” problem of immanent gratification. I once read that patients are the key right now. I have the feeling that I have be shown a face and not the real person I thought I knew, but I do not at all want to believe that is what really happened. Because I don’t have any way to find out what’s, what.
Tell I can I just have to work on my self and not let the past effect the future goals I have been waiting, wishing, and dreaming about form the start. Most of all people need to be real with how they feel and why they made and make chooses in life!

Why do people procrastinate? Procrastination is bad but sometimes good. Lots of people procrastinate; lots of people don’t procrastinate. Sometimes people that procrastinate can get in trouble; sometimes they don’t. People that don’t procrastinate can usually get their work done faster than people who do procrastinate. There are times when I procrastinate and I get in trouble with teachers and other people. But then there are times that I don’t procrastinate with my work and I don’t get in trouble with teachers and other people and I also get my work done on time. So here is a question for you, are you a person who procrastinates or a person who doesn’t? I don’t think that I am a person who procrastinates a lot but there are people who think I procrastinate a lot now. I just have to find out for myself, weather or not I am a procrastinator.

Music
Music is the best; it helps me sleep at night.
If I go without music their will be a fight.
I love to play guitar, I can’t play the bass.
But that’s ok because I keep all of my music
In a case.
The sound of the electric is ok, I like the
Sound that it makes.
But some people who play them are fakes.
The drums are loud; I like the sound they make
But lessons I will not take.

Procrastination is bad in my terms. If you procrastinate things, it will just become bad for you. I have procrastinated a lot of things in the past and it did not turn out good for me. When I was in elementary school I would procrastinate a lot of projects so I would be up until 11:00 trying to get it done and my step mom was right there to make sure that I got it done.
I have procrastinated a lot of assignments in school and I got a bad grade or something for not turning it in at all or getting fewer points for turning it in late. Turning things in late doesn’t hurt anyone but myself. Procrastination is bad! I hate myself for procrastinating things but I don’t do it now because I’ve learned that it’s bad.
If you keep procrastinating things as a little kid or as a child then when you get older it will come back and bite you on the but or you’ll learn that it’s ok to procrastinate things. Because you will soon get fired if you procrastinate things at work and that will be bad. Don’t procrastinate things because it will hurt you!

Today I am going to write about life. My life is on the rocks, I guess you could say. I have only a few real friends and the others are just there. The real ones comfort me when I am sad and crying. The fake friends are there when they want something, or when they need someone to gossip to about others. And I can’t express myself without someone getting all butt hurt. To tell the truth, I don’t see how you can be my “friend” and not know how I can get. I tell you straight up what I think about you, and if I like you or not. I rarely care if I hurt your feelings, because there must’ve been a reason for me to say something at all to you. So for those who don’t know me by now here are some facts:
• If I don’t feel like you are respecting me, I won’t respect you.
• If you do something that offends me, you will notice by words or body language.
• My personality doesn’t bond with personalities that aren’t alike in someway.
• I am a strong willed woman, and no guy or girl can break me, because if I won’t know you in 3 to 5 years, you don’t matter.
So there are some get to know the basics about Shalee. We should be able to meet a common ground.

Sadness
Sadness often looked at as a symbol of shame.
Life just full of space.
You ask yourself questions over and over again.
“Do I matter?”; “What’s missing within?”
You worry about the rise and the fall, and ask for help, yet get nothing at all.
You constantly question yourself,
“Can I survive?”
The answer is no when your soul has died.
Pushing back boundaries and leaving your pieces behind,
and never stopping to think about how important the sun is.
The littlest things that brighten up your day make you want to go on.
Your life is a debt to society and no one listens.
Seems impossible to treat this incurable sadness.
A life full of sadness is a crisis,
and what’s up must come down.
Lost in sadness, am I.

Compassion
By: Rachel
Compassion is a feeling that everyone
Feels at least one time in their lives
It is the trust you feel with someone close
And you wouldn’t need to question them
Or yourself
You feel the pain coming from someone you love
All these events can be an emotional tug
The power that ONE individual can bring
It makes the person you’re helping want to sing
Praises and joys of how you’ve saved,
Everything they’ve ever gained.
To care and to love is what this word means
To help and to rescue what you’ve seen
Not to feel sorry for them,
But to make them think again

Music
Beautiful, pleasing, interesting,
Created by voice or instrument.
It starts with an idea,
But ends in creativity.
It can be quiet,
It can be loud.
We can be soft,
Then again we can be heavy.
But which ever you like,
There’s many of us around.
Detention
I feel restrained,
These shackles have always remained.
I await the day,
That they will say,
You are finally free to go away.
Slam goes the hammer,
I must go back to the slammer.
I step out of the room,
I know they’re watching me,
But I can’t say hello or goodbye.
I hear the sound,
As the van comes around.
I arrive at my cell,
Which feels like hell.
Morning shift is at end.
My door flew open,
But I couldn’t believe,
It was my turn to leave.

Songbird
By: Nick
The songbird sings even though she
Has a broken wing the piper who leads us
To reason is going to be gone this season.
The song bird sits in a tree
I wonder if she cans see
How much she affects me.
The beautiful song it sings
Brings me to my knee’s
And the forest will echo with laughter
But not long after that laughter fades
Because through these grades we made it
To reality without any fatality
So before you laugh and don’t believe
Just look
At those who don’t grieve

I like the song “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin. In my mind I can see some references to Christian mythology such as “look to the west” and “soul is crying for the leaving”. L liked this song because it is not blatant in its meaning. Some songs come out and say things like ‘I fell this way and that way’. Some songs try to hide their meanings with characters behind assumed names like Romeo or Juliet. However this song style by Led Zeppelin reminds me of the band The Church. Their songs are deeper in meaning than most.
I think “Stairway to Heaven” is talking about trying to find meaning in life and being rewarded for the good one does, like the reference to the forest echoing in laughter when the piper leads us to reason.

Bodies in the sand,
Conquerors from a foreign land,
Who bring their god
To replace our own
We decipher their language
At the end of a sword.
To them we succumb,
Slaving to the beat of a newer drum.
We bow to them, but
They bow to us.
To some extent, they
Need our trust.
But I am content
To sit back and watch.
All we are is another notch.
I’m only defiant with knees bent.

Music Equals Life
Notes singing a melodious tune,
People slow dancing to the beat.
Stop, scene change
Venue: hundreds of sweaty people moshing to the beat of a heavy drum
This is music; this is sanctuary.
Kids are screaming their high pitched screams,
Mom is wailing because she has no help
But she is happy because this is her song her sanctuary.
Music is friends, family.
Music is kicking back or moshing in a crowd of people.
Music is us. Our sanctuary,
Music equals life.

Helping a friend!!
Have you ever tried to help somebody in every way you can? I have, and yet everyone that I have tried to help doesn’t seem to want it. Which makes me wonder why do I still try to help them, and I think it’s because I don’t usually give up on people. One thing I need to realize is that I can only help people as much as they want to be helped. This is hard for me to realize because I want everyone to be successful. It makes it especially hard when they are people that I care for or people close to me. I have a friend who has made his fair share of mistakes as we all have. I have tried to help him out in everyway I can, and it is as if he does not want or need my help. Which makes me think, “why do you keep helping him he doesn’t use it?” I guess I will keep trying to help him rather he wants to take it or not, and it’s because I know he is better than what he shows.

Help!!
Help, I need somebody,
I need a leader with a dream.
Help, not just anybody,
I need a movie with a theme.
Help, you are the person,
With a dream.
Help, you can be there,
You are the person I need.
Help, I need some kind of hope,
Are you my friend?
Help, someone to give me hope,
You can help me in my time of need.
Help, I need a friend,
To be there for me.
Help, I need a friend until the end,
Who is my hope?
My leader with a dream,
Who will be with me in the end?

101 Things In 1001 Days
In second period yesterday, we did an unusual thing. We looked at this guy’s blog and one of the icons said “101 things in 1001 days”. We took a look at it, and this guy had set up 101 goals that he really wanted to accomplish. He had 1001 days to accomplish those goals.
My teacher had us start to write our own list, and it had to be full of things that would not be easily accomplished. It was really interesting to try to think of all the things that you want to do that are easier said than done because they can’t be silly little things. I found that it is hard to think of tough things to accomplish.
We read through some of his things, and there was a lot to look over. We got some ideas out of it, so that we could get started on ours. My teacher started on Wednesday, and she is only on number forty-one. I started yesterday, and I am on number twenty. I really recommend this to anyone because it is a very effective way to get things done.
