Haikus

Ancient mountain stones
Accost, the western sunset
As darkness takes hold.

Forgotten seeds rise,
Casting off their beginnings,
To accept their end

The sun creeps northward,
As earth prepares for summer.
Shedding life and light.

I think this section has given me a greater appreciation for poetry. I believe that because of this class I am now able to understand why an author chose the words they did, or the subject they wrote on. This class has given me new insights on how to read into what is on the page.
We should write poetry because it is a release. Poetry transcends prose because when we create poems we are not held back by grammar and punctuation. Poetry is like a higher form of English where we can create, or manipulate words as they are to mean something more.
Reading poetry doesn’t have to be drudgery. One of my favorite ways to enjoy poetry is by listening to music. Well written lyrics can be beautiful, tragic, or inspirational. I like listening to music with deeper lyrics, it give me something to think about.
Poetry is making language into art, without it language would be dead.
