Trek

“When it’s dark enough, you can see the stars”, this quote brings me back to our programs monthly trek. Trek is usually a week long experience. It’s a requirement to get out of the focus program, to graduate; it’s at least a month to move up each level.

You have no idea how hard trek is, unless you’ve been to the boys ranch journey program. While packing our heavy packs (which include our clothes, food, and sleeping bags), we also have to push a cart that contains an emergency pack, and also emergency water. It’s a trail made up of dirt and rocks, mostly up hill. All I can say is that it’s a difficult challenge. I honestly remember thinking that trek was going to be a camping experience. When getting out of the van and putting on my poncho and stepping into the mud was terrible. Feeling the wind was the worse, feeling the rain hit your cold face was I guess one thing I never want to experience.

The night before trek was going to be over; we all went to experience the stars of the night. It made me feel curious; like what is really out there? Being away from all population will do that to you I guess. I wanted to stay longer after that, it’s weird how nature does that.

I like that Persian quote too, and I have had times were I could finally see the stars. Your blog flows nicely and is meaningful. Keep writing.
